The temple in the background is for all those who died constructing the road through the gorge. The temple itself has been destroyed several times by natural disasters and rebuilt!

Tarako Gorge, Taiwan. I couldn't go on this bridge because it wasn't yet open.
At the Tarako Gorge in Taiwan with my friend Yizu. There was no one selling here. Perhaps they moved somewhere without a sign.

Eating in Taiwan, and drinking green tea. Everything was made from local produce. To eat the sticky rice, it was necessary to break it open on a stone. I took a few tries because I didn't want to splatter anyone nearby.

Taiwanese cake. My umbrella made it all the way to Taiwan through luggage on the plane since SIA wouldn't allow me to carry it on. A view out the bus window of a smoke stack decorated for tourists in aboriginal style. Beautiful coast in Taiwan.

This is all that remains of a fort that was built in 1511. I loved the vanilla taste in this A&W Float rootbeer, but haven't been able to find it anywhere outside of Malaysia!
Taxis in Melaka. The Melaka tree from which the city derived its name. All that is left of St. Paul's church, originally built in 1521.
