This valley is glacier fed, but there the glacier is almost gone. A close up view of an ibex I brought back home with me.
Click the large photo here and you can see an ibex. My camera could not zoom any closer.

The next stop was the Gobi desert. Most of the time, this is what the road looked like: It's not completely baren. There are just enough patches of vegetation for some livestock to graze.
Back at the Murun airport, to return to Ulaan Baatar. Apparently Molotav cocktails are not allowed on the plane!
On the way back to the airport, to break up the >4 hour drive we stopped by a lake. Our drivers and Russian vans.

I couldn't resist the chance to ride a Mongolian yak! It was cold so I'm wearing a camel hair hat.
These Yak calves were recently born. A full grown yak.
The water was incredibly clear. This is a view from my kayak of our camp with teepees and gers.

Views from kayaking on Lake Khuvsgul, Mongolia. Notice the two orange ducks.
I tried kayaking for the first time on Lake Khuvsgul, Mongolia. It was so peaceful on the water. The lake is too cold and isolated for sports like water skiing or jetskis.
