Photo taken from the cable car to Sentosa. The port in Singapore is one of the busiest in the world.

I thought the tree below looked similar to a Bonsai tree, except it's not tiny. Posted by Picasa

A few photos from Orchard road. I'm not sure why the trees are wrapped in red and white polkadots.

My Mandarin class. Once a week, I've been taking Mandarin lessons. So far, I haven't learned how to say much that is useful (example: being able to ask what day of the week it is (as if I wouldn't already look clueless enough when speaking Mandarin)). Other students in the class are from Switzerland, Japan, France, Singapore, and Indonesia (not pictured). Posted by Picasa

View from the hotel in Batam, Indonesia In some Indonesian restaurants there are no menus. They put every dish they make on the table and after you finish eating, the waiter counts up the number of plates that were sampled.
One of the boats that goes to Batam. It takes around 40 minutes from Singapore.

Batam Island, Indonesia. This is a photo of one of the three halls of the largest Buddhist temple in Southeast Asia. It's a very new temple, not nearly as impressive as those that have lasted hundreds of years. The Buddha in front is the Happy Buddha. The restaurant where I ate lunch.
A show after lunch. The guys ate burning coal, freshly broken glass and jumped through hoops of fire. They claim that by praying, they can protect themselves from any damage those activities may cause.

Extremely dangerous green tea dessert with red beans must not be uncaged unless with skilled handler.
A portion of the menu from a microbrewery showing market-driven flexible beer pricing!
The next two photos are from the East Coast.

The Discovery Center presents a history of Singapore, all 41 years. It is mainly for children with many interactive exhibits, but also has a huge IMAX screen. There are still so many museums I have yet to visit here.
Below is a covered walkway. They are ubiqituous in Singapore providing protection from the sun and rain.
