I arrived the day of a Tatarstan festival! I kind of regret not buying the paper dragons now.
This was a Soviet era restaurant. I couldn't read anything on the menu since there was no English so I just pointed at something at random. By chance, it was delicious! Lenin in the train station. The train to Kazan.
According to my guide book, there was an excellent nearby architectual museum of different types of traditional Russian homes. It was not very popular with international tourists. I was the only non-Russian to find it, and the museum was well past it's prime. Buildings were falling apart. The few other visitors were school children.
