Last photos from Chingay parade, Singapore. Afterwards, there was an all night party at city hall, but I didn't go.

The policeman looks quite calm for the situation.

The policeman was in the way of almost every photo!

Photos from the Chingay Parade in Singapore. Below are members of a lion dance troupe.

They aren't embarrassed to parade around in these uniforms because no one can identify them!

These are photos from the Chingay Parade
It's the closest thing Singapore has to a local parade, unlike New York City which seems to have several every weekend. There is a push to make the parade "world class" by bringing in more international acts, but I think the local flavor is more endearing since it makes the parade unlike any other. It was very difficult to get good photos. Below is the best I could do. The parade always relies upon extremely bright colors!

This is probably the only local event they can get the chance to wear these costumes.

All the interesting bus routes from Van Vieng, Laos.

Some people in Laos make their own cars from tractors.

When the vehicle is too heavy for the bridge, they just drive across the river.

Back in the new airport in Bangkok. It's beautiful, but domestic flights still leave from the old airport, so I had to take a bus to get here for my flight to Singapore after arriving from Udon Thani.

Van Vieng, Laos.

I rented what looked like a light attached to a motorcycle battery. In the middle of the cave, the wires came undone from the battery, so it was pitch dark! Luckily, it wasn't that hard to reattach.

I rented a bicycle and rode to see some caves in Van Vieng.

Lunch at the bus stop along the way from Luang Prabang to Van Vieng, Laos. It was included in the price of the bus.

The road was very slow and very curvy. This truck was blocking the road, and everyone in the bus had to get out while the bus driver drove along the side of the road so it wouldn't get stuck in the dirt.

Views of the hotel at Van Vieng. It was around 25 USD a night, the most expensive in the city.
